Balranald is located in the Riverina district of New South Wales.
The Royal Hotel, one of the key landmarks of Balranald, was built in 1866. The first ever brick building was built in the town on 1871 which is now the Post Office. The town was proclaimed a municipality in 1883.
The Balranald Racecourse is located at Greenham Park and is under the management of Balranald Race Club. The club hosts two race meeting events annually, both of which are highly anticipated by the towns people and residents of nearby districts. One of the meetings is held on either the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup or Derby Day and the other, Balranald Cup, is held every February. Both events feature fashions on the field events that spectators can't wait to witness.
Races at the Balranald Racecourse are considered family friendly. There are a lot of activities for the children such as merry-go-rounds, jumping castles, sand pits and other kinds of children entertainment. Other features such as live bands performing all throughout the day is part of the Balranald Racecourse experience. There are also SKY Channel and TAB facilities, on course bookies, bar and catering facilities available for all race goers. People attend to enjoy the friendly and relaxing environment, unwind in the shady grounds while enjoying some refreshments and watching some entertaining thoroughbred horse racing action.
