Did you know that horse racing is one of the Australians' favorite past time? It is very common to have racecourses all over the place. Gatton Racecourse is one of those race courses that people love to go to. Located in the heart of South East Queensland, the Lockyer village, where the track is located, is often considered some of the most fertile land in the world.

The track circumference is 1700 metres with 300 metres being the measurement of the home straight. The shape of the track is almost an oval shape which is why there are many turns, plus the inside barriers give great advantage to runners.

It is operated by the Lockyer Racing Club which holds 12 midweek racing meetings per year. The track does have great facilities that would definitely suit the style preference and needs of both members and the public. This includes TAB, a bookmaker, free parking, BBQ stand, a canteen, full bar facilities, tents for hospitality purpose and catering.

All the races held at the Gatton racecourse are entertaining. Races such as the Queensland Derby which is a 2400m race and then there is the Stradbroke Handicap with a distance of 1400m. These are just few of the races that are held at this race track.

So if you are planning a visit or would like to watch one of the races at the Gatton Racecourse, then you might as well check out all the other tourist sites in Gatton. There is plenty to see and do in Gatton, so don't be afraid to explore the area.
