Just a 2 hour drive south of Sydney and 100kms north of Canberra, which is the nation's capital, is where the Goulburn Racecourse is located. It is part of the thriving cultural community of Goulburn. Its environment is perfect for those who would like to watch the races surrounded by amazing views.
The track is considered as one of the fastest tracks in Australia. It has a 1,750m circumference and 400m home straight where the lap ends. The track runs in a clockwise direction and is quite narrow at only 20m however it is still considered an even run to the turn from most barriers. The track also has two chutes and it is considered a fair track by most experts.
In 1989 the club was incorporated and now the control is based on eleven elected directors, with elections, held once a year in November, open to all financial members. The club is known as the Goulburn & District Racing Club Ltd. The club is known for providing thoroughbred racing in New South Wales of the highest quality for trainers, jockeys and horses.
The Goulburn Cup is one of the major races that the Goulburn Racecourse holds every year. It is included in a two day racing carnival. The Anniversary Cup is also one of the major races. There are many other race meetings that the Club holds every year.
The racecourse is a relatively new facility which celebrated its 10th anniversary in November 2009.
