Located in the goldfield city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and about 593 kilometers east of the Perth in the outback part of Western Australia, lies the Kalgoorlie Racecourse. It is a diamond shaped course with four turns throughout its 1934m circumference. Its home straight measures 320m in length. All races run here are in an anticlockwise direction. It favours horses drawn from an inside barrier.
The racecourse is managed by the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club which is considered as one of the best run country racing clubs in Western Australia. In 1954, the club held its first ever meeting as an official racing club.
Currently the club hosts about 25 race meetings every year. Of these 25 events, two are actually Coolgardie Racing Club's meeting. They do also host one of the iconic events on the national stage of racing which is the Kalgoorlie-Boulder 'Race Round'. This race is held every second week of September and is considered the highlight of the entire season.
There are other fun events that are being held at the course such as the ever competitive 'Fashions on the Field'. People from all around Western Australia also wait and anticipate the World Two-Up Championships. People from all around Australia travel to Kalgoorlie Racecourse to witness some thoroughbred racing action and at the same time see a spectacle of style, color and excitement that is truly amazing.
Other races that are held at this track include the Kalgoorlie Gold Cup, the 1760m Boulder Cup that is held every September, the Hanna's Handicap held every September; and the 1600m Coolgardie Cup that occurs every August. All of these races are highly anticipated by all horse racing fanatics.
