Since it is part of the Australian culture to be very fond of racing, it is only natural that they do have some of the best racecourses in the world. One of the well known tracks is the Mornington Racecourse. Its ambience of both a metropolitan and rural track makes it exremely appealing to race goers. It's also just 45 minutes away from the Melbourne CBD and because of that people living in urban and metropolitan areas can reach the track easily. The standard of racing is quite high at this race course because there are many metropolitan based trainers who enter horses in the various features.
The award winning track won 3 awards as Victoria's number one country circuit. The reason is that it is beautifully located on the Mornington Peninsula which tends to captivate the hearts of the club members and race goers as well.
The racecourse circumference measures 1800m and has a 210m straight. The straight of this track does have a slight uphill rise, but it doesn't make much difference to the racing. It normally holds about 20 race meets a year. All these races are carefully coordinated by the Mornington Racing Club. Mornington Cup and Gunbower Cup are two of the feature events that are held at this track. The first being held every February and the latter at the start of October, both of which are very much awaited and loved by racing enthusiasts.
The club also offers first class facilities with manicured lawns and an amphitheater with panoramic views, as well as an undercover outdoor area are. This creates a very homey and unique experience. The head of the club's main goal is to be able to make each and every race day meaningful to its audience.
