The Northam Racecourse sits in the middle of the beautiful Avon Valley in Northam. One of the Premier winter Racecourses in Australia, Northam is just an hour's drive from Perth via the Great Eastern Highway. The Northam Racecourse is run by the Northam Race Club, which was founded in 1863. The track sits right on the edge Mortlock River.
An average of 25 race meetings takes place at the Northam Racecourse annually. Popular events at the track include the Avon Valley Contractors Foundation Day Cup, Matriarch Cup and Kids Big Day Out.
The Gannons Ladies Day Cup is a major event at the racecourse and commands a great following among the locals and racing enthusiasts all over Australia.
The track boasts a Kikuyu grass surface loam base and good drainage at the sub soil level. It has a diameter of 2017 metres and 25 a width of metres.
The racecourse has a home straight of 425m with a 5% camber on the home turn while the remaining straight has 2-3% camber.
