It all started in 2011

Punting Form was founded in 2011 by three aspiring pro punters who wanted to apply their skills in big data processing and analysis to find edges in the Australian horse racing market. We built a better form guide and tools to assist subscribers to interrogate and analyse traditional form data to help them identify betting opportunities. We learnt early on our journey that we needed access to proprietary data to find the most profitable edges. Over the ensuing years we met a menagerie of horse racing industry participants, made many friends, and established multiple partnerships which included a company capturing sectional times for Australian horse races. The company was doing an incredible job capturing highly accurate sectional times for all runners in Australian races using software they developed and a team they recruited and trained offshore.

Proprietary Data

On ingesting and analysing the incremental sectional times, performance benchmarks and resultant ratings they created it was clear we had found the proprietary data we needed to justify our ongoing efforts. In 2016 our partnership evolved into a merger and Punting Form was perfectly positioned to continue pursuing our mission to make racing data more accessible and finding winners easier. We continued our pursuit for edges and launched multiple new data products like Hong Kong and Singapore race sectionals and benchmarks, insights using weather/wind data, capturing horses’ wides position in running, identifying early speed and fastest meeting last 200m edges, sharing jockey/trainer actual to expected performance (A2E) statistics/trends and runner performance based on historical run style per track, rail position and barrier. The Punting Form team remains committed to delivering data to the highest quality standards and creating new data products and insights to make finding winners for our subscribers easier.

Acquired and Expanding

In November 2022 Punting Form was acquired by BetMakers Technology (ASX:BET).
The deal substantially accelerated our capacity to deliver our subscribers new data products and insights. We are very excited about launching North American horse racing sectionals amongst a myriad of new product offerings currently on our roadmap. We trust our subscribers will enjoy extracting even more value from these new products. BetMakers is our perfect partner, and we trust that our acquisition will further strengthen BetMakers’ position as one of the leading providers of B2B data and technology services for horse racing.
